Kyong Mazzaro is a Senior Research Associate at the Center for News, Technology & Innovation (CNTI). Her scholarly work examines how political dynamics affect media freedom, with a particular focus on Latin America.
Prior to joining CNTI, Kyong worked on international policy and research initiatives at the U.S. Department of State and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). In these roles, she used mixed-methods approaches to measure the impact of international development initiatives and inform program design.
Kyong holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Graduate Center, City University of New York. Her research, which has been supported by organizations such as the Mellon Foundation and the American Council of Learned Societies, has been published in leading academic journals, including The International Journal of Press/Politics and Electoral Studies.
