Daniela Valdivia Terres is the Communications Trainee at the Center for News, Technology & Innovation. Prior to this role, she served as news editor and later editor-in-chief of The Observer, the Northern Essex Community College (NECC) newspaper. Her investigative reporting earned first place for News Story from NENPA, and she received an honorable mention for Reporter of the Year from the Associated Collegiate Press, among other writing awards.

As a bilingual communicator, Daniela has contributed to Mas Latino and El Mundo Boston, where she has produced diverse and creative content covering news, real estate, and technology that boosted audience engagement. She also worked as an outreach leader with Lawrence, Massachusetts’ Transformative Development Initiative (TDI), connecting local businesses to economic development programs.

Daniela has covered the AI & Education Summit organized by MIT RAISE for El Mundo Boston since 2024, and she organized an AI Q&A panel at NECC where faculty and students engaged with industry experts on AI’s potential, misuse, and ethics. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in journalism and artificial intelligence at Suffolk University, after receiving her associate’s degree in journalism and communications from Northern Essex Community College.

In her “copious” free time, she treasures sharing laughter and building memories with her family and friends.
