Newsgeist 2025
Dates
Oct. 10–12, 2025
Location
Phoenix, Arizona
Venues
Cronkite School, Arizona State University

Over 40 hours, 54 sessions, a half dozen ad hoc discussions and countless serendipitous conversations, Newsgeist 2025 participants pushed their thinking on journalism’s biggest challenges.
From Oct. 10–12, 180 participants gathered in Phoenix, Arizona, for the latest in a long line of Newsgeists and the first under CNTI’s stewardship, hosted at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
As always, the program was built by the people in the room. On the opening night, participants pitched the ideas and questions they wanted to explore, and those pitches became 54 sessions, all held under the Chatham House Rule.
24 speakers also took the stage for Ignite Talks, delivering fast-paced, five-minute takes on everything from belief bubbles to domestic surveillance. The full recap explores the weekend’s themes of trust, truth and innovation in a shifting industry.
