Indie info providers, creator-journalists, news creators … whatever you call them, they’re reshaping how communities get news. But how do they establish credibility without the institutional backing of a newsroom? It’s a question facing a growing share of people working independently — and one without easy answers.
On June 1, CNTI is partnering with News Creator Corps (NCC) for “No Newsroom, No Problem: Building Credibility on Your Own” — a conversation with four panelists working at different points of this evolving landscape:
• Rachel Lobdell, Executive Director at NCC
• Jay Barchas-Lichtenstein, Senior Research Manager at CNTI
• Phil Edwards, Independent video producer and YouTuber
• Terrill Haigler, Community activist and indie info provider, better known online as “Ya Fav Trashman”
• Moderated by Amy Mitchell, Executive Director at CNTI
Come and learn what’s working, what isn’t, and what their combined research and experience can teach us about the future of independent media.
